Četvoro srednjoškolaca otkrivaju staru video igru za koju nikad ranije nisu čuli. Od tog trenutka biće uvučeni u zabavan svet džungle i postati avatari prema sopstvenom izboru: Spenser će tako postati štreberski istraživač, sportista Fridž će postati pravi Ajnštajn, popularna devojka Betani će se pretvoriti u sredovečnog profesora, a krhka Marta postaće neustrašiva ratnica. Međutim, zabava će se uskoro pretvoriti u nešto drugo, kada otkriju da se Džumandži ne igra – već preživljava.
