Priča o deci iz jednog srpskog sela koja su za vreme II svetskog rata htela da postanu zvezde, jer, prema kazivanju starih ratnka, kad ratnik pogine, rodi se zvezda, kad izgine četa - sazvežđe! Seljaci se kolebaju da davanjem potpisa spasu učitelja od streljanja. Potpise za svoga učitelja stavljaju đaci. Nemci dolaze po potpisnike. Stari ratnici, koji su decu nadojili legendom, međutim, izvrše zamenu i, umesto dece, odlaze u smrt.
