The heroes are the children of small town, King, a ruthless bully, and Rocky, a tramp and petty swindler.

The boys collect money to buy a boat but King regularly takes it away from them. They begin to dream about an unknown hero who will come to the town and beat King up. One day, Rocky, the tramp, comes to town with a broken hand, tired of wandering. The boys recognize in him a former famous boxer, the man they need to save the from King. A deal is made, boys will look after Rocky until his hand gets well and he will challenge King to a fight. Rocky is satisfied, he has found a place where he can aspend the winter, and the most important, he can fecth his small son from the children’s home. However, in the spring, Rocky admits to his son that he was never a boxer and that he cannot fight King. This is a tremendous disappointment to the boys and Rocky sees that his son will never believe in him again. Althogh he has already left town, Rocky decides to go back and arrives at the appointed time to meet King. It is not important that he lose fight. He gains something else much more significant, the love and trust of his son.
